GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS:

 

PRAYER changes things.  Who are you praying for?   If you have a prayer need, please complete a prayer card and drop it off in our white “Prayer Requests” box in the sanctuary.  We pray for these requests daily.

Prayer Gathering – Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m.

Communion is served in our worship services, mostly on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month.

Food Pantry:   Our food pantry exists because of the example of Jesus.  It is stocked with food to feed the hungry.  Our primary mission is to the “household of faith”, and open to any who asks.

“You have not because you ask not.”  – James 4:2   Ask and it shall be given.  The food pantry is open by appointment for emergency needs.

The need to keep our pantry stocked has never been greater due to the recent drastic decrease in monthly benefits that food-stamps-eligible families receive.  Our biggest needs at this time are anything breakfast-related:  juice, cereal, pancake mix and syrup,  but any and all donations are appreciated.  Items that cannot be purchased with food stamps, such as toiletries, personal care items, paper supplies and any non-food items, are also accepted and appreciated.  Place your donations on the specially marked cart in the foyer.

Copies of our local church directories are available.  They are updated twice a year, in April and October.  To save on paper and ink costs, copies will be printed only upon request.  See the church sound engineer.  (Latest edition is dated April 21st, 2016.)

Nazarene Missions International (NMI):   Our bulletin board in the foyer has tons of information about what’s going on in the mission field.  We have a Mission bookshelf in the back of our sanctuary featuring hardcopy and audio CD format missionary reading books.  Sign-up to read a book, or listen to a CD and find out what God is doing through His missionaries helping to “Make Christlike Disciples in the Nations”.  – Please return books and CD’s as soon as possible (don’t keep more than two weeks) so that they will be available to others in our congregation.  We have a link on the right-hand side of this page for the official NMI website.

World Mission Broadcast – “Beyond Borders and Barriers”:   Those old-time radio receivers had a lot of circuitry, tubes, knobs, dials and controls.  So then, it takes many parts to broadcast a message.  —  Today it costs an average of $4.00 to broadcast one minute of the Gospel somewhere in the world.  How many minutes will you support?   Click the World Mission Broadcast link on the right to make an on-line donation.

Our teen group at Southwest COTN is a recipient of Schnucks Supermarket’s E-Scrip program.  Participating in this program is solely voluntary; however, it is an opportunity to raise funds for our teen group at no additional cost to you.  All you do is pick up an E-scrip card at the courtesy counter of your nearest Schnucks.  Activate your card by calling the phone number shown and mention Southwest COTN – Teens to the operator.   Thereafter, use your card on every Schnucks shopping visit and you will be supporting our teens!  To find out more about how the program works, go to the Schnucks supermarket website www.schnucks.com.

UPCOMING FUTURE EVENTS:

Rummage Sale, Saturday, May 7th at 9:00 a.m., and again Saturday, May 28th at 9:00 a.m.  Combined proceeds from these sales go to help send teens and children to summer camps at Pinecrest Campground in June and July.

UPCOMING DATES OF SUMMER CAMPS AT PINECREST:

Teen Camp:  June 13th – 17th.

Family Camp:  July 5th – 10th (Tuesday through the following Sunday this year.  Camp registration begins July 5th due to the Independence Day holiday).

Boys and Girls Camp:  July 18th – 22nd (For boys and girls who completed grades 2 – 6).
